I love this time of year...wish it didn't take an actual month on the calendar to remind us to extend ourselves to others. We are hard learners.
"Christmas is not a day or a season, but a condition of heart and mind. If we love our neighbors as ourselves; if in our riches we are poor in spirit and in our poverty we are rich in grace; if our love of others isn't for show, but suffers long and is kind; if when our brother asks for a loaf we give ourselves instead; if each day dawns in opportunity and sets in achievement, however small; then every day is Christ's day and Christmas is always near." (James Wallingford)
Mmmm...humbling. Might we not get so busy shopping, baking and making lists that we fail to just be.... nice....overly kind...sweet, even - and not just in December!
We're big fans of what is beautiful, of things that are unique and somewhat spectacular....but the day this shop becomes only about making a buck, and not about establishing relationships with people and sharing where our love of beauty comes from...that day our doors should lock forever....
Christmas in December is sweet....but even more so in the middle of May...June...October...or any other plain, ordinary day.......
