Memorial Day festivities...and a new week begins

We had a really relaxing weekend...a much needed reconnecting time for all of our family and a nice taste of summer weather. Which is probably why it was SO hard to get up and moving this morning...yesterday, the pool and suntan lotion- today, a sweatshirt and umbrella!

We woke early yesterday to the Strasburg Parade outside our door...
the annual celebritory march of those who have served us well.

Both of our grandfathers were US Veterans, so both gravesites were visited. Some of the kids piled in cars and went to Grandpa Cook's site here in Strasburg...

...while mom's family sent us some pics of visiting Grandpa Edgett's site in Massachusetts. At a time when our country is experiencing more and more growing pains and the shifting of standards, it seems the one thing we can agree on is that those who have gone before us (and those who serve today) to pave the way for our freedom are to be celebrated and remembered as the heroes that they were/are. I'm proud that at all corners of the country we at least agree on that.

This morning...

SOMEONE woke up with a headache, slight fever and general "BLAHS"...So, what's a working mother to do but bring the daughter to work!?! We headed to the shop with a carload of paraphernalia for the day... *comforter*pillow*books*movies*crayons*paper*lunch*

She immediately saw the pj's hanging in the shop and decided she should have some...and proceeded to wear them around the shop all day! As you can see, she perked up as the day progressed...hmmm....was it the day off of school or a whole day w/mom??

A few minutes ago she plopped a tiara on her head and posed...not looking like someone who should have skipped school...
